I've pondered for a few weeks about my (personal) annual write up. It's been a year to remember, hasn't it? A year I don't think anyone anticipated, predicted, or could've possibly imagined. As many of you know, my annual posts are a chance for me to reflect. On reflection of this year, I am truly thankful for the learning we have gained and the experiences we have grown from. A few years ago, through my own development, I decided that it was important for me (and I always recommend it to others), to truly and wholly evaluate situations with a different mindset. To ground ourselves with what is important and what isn't and to, as cliche as it sounds, find the positive in every situation. 2020 has been a terrible time for many. So many have lost loved ones, friends, family, and colleagues to this virus. Plenty of others have lost their jobs or businesses and I appreciate those circumstances are never positive, but you can take positives from them. It may seem unfathomable at first, but even personal development, an increase in strength, a stronger bond built with those around you, or an acknowledgment of the things you are truly grateful for in your life. There is nothing wrong with being grounded from time to time to learn to appreciate the things that are right under your nose. 2020 has brought me a new career, it has seen me become a published author, it has given me an opportunity to continue to help and support others in ways that I always wanted to through counselling and CBT - but I also, with my wife, ran a Christmas Shoebox Appeal which supported 100's of people in the community this Christmas. That gave me a huge sense of satisfaction and brought me a lot of peace. Like so many people, we didn't get our annual holiday which was a big one for us this year, but we take thanks that we are all safe and healthy regardless. As with every year, 2020 has given me the privilege of seeing my girls grow and flourish, and another wonderful year of memories made with my beautiful wife. Read more in comments...
